Pinnacles

The Pinnacles is a pretty hiking area just a few miles up the road from our house.  Some cool rock outcroppings are located up above the stream, I, of course, didn't take any pictures of them.  Next time.

 Skipping stones in the creek.

The creek has created this big overhang that we explored.
 Happy Daddy, happy baby.

All the best photos come from the playground.

It feels like the park is a refuge.  When we are there, the classes, tests, illnesses, stresses and strains just don't seem as important.  It is one of the places where things feel right, and I wonder how we get so far removed from this when we grow up - the ability to be happy with being outside, moving, exploring.

I see the joy that my children take in this and feel my own love for them, and I think that this is it - this is what all kids, and all parents need, to be able to feel these things.  And I wonder why so many don't seem to be able to - the messes we've made and continue to make, that get in the way of this.

What else is there, what else could there possibly be that is better than this, more right than this, more necessary than this?  I want this for all kids - to be able to go, and play, and feel safe, and loved.  That's all.
